Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL Launches with High-Tech Golf Simulator Matches
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy‘s highly anticipated Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) officially launched Tuesday night, marking the debut of a high-tech, team-based golf competition designed to modernize the sport. The league, which combines simulator technology with live-action greens, kicked off at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, after a year-long delay caused by a roof collapse at the venue.
The TGL features six teams of four players each, competing in a round-robin format through March. Each match consists of 15 holes, split into nine holes of alternate shot play and six holes of singles head-to-head competition. Players hit shots into a massive 64×53-foot simulator screen before transitioning to live-action greens for shots within 50 yards of the hole. A 40-second shot clock and timeouts add a fast-paced, strategic element to the matches.
