Detroit Tigers New York Yankees Comerica Park April 2025

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers have altered their schedule for the upcoming series against the New York Yankees due to a harsh weather forecast. The original evening game times at Comerica Park have been moved earlier to avoid freezing temperatures and wind chills predicted to drop into the 20s.

The first pitch for the game on Monday, April 7, 2025, is now set for 3:10 p.m. ET, a shift from the originally scheduled 6:40 p.m. start. Similarly, games on Tuesday, April 8, and Wednesday, April 9, will commence at 1:10 p.m. ET instead of the previously arranged times.

“It was a collaboration of everybody,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. “And I’m really happy with everybody. Given what the forecast says, not that it’s going to be balmy during the day, but it’s going to be better.” This decision prioritizes the safety and comfort of fans and players alike, as evening temperatures are expected to be particularly frigid.

The Tigers are aiming to build on their recent momentum, boasting a 5-4 record after completing a sweep of the Chicago White Sox. A highlight of their recent match was Spencer Torkelson’s walk-off double, and the team hopes to carry that energy into their series against the Yankees, the defending American League champions.

The pitching matchups for the series appear favorable for the Tigers, with Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, and Jack Flaherty slated to take the mound. Mize has shown impressive early-season form, and Skubal and Flaherty are expected to play significant roles against a strong Yankees lineup.

Entering the series with a solid 6-2 record, the Yankees aim to bounce back after losing against the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are known for their powerful offense and have a lineup filled with players who can drastically change the course of a game with their batting.

For fans attending the games, tickets for the new times will remain valid. The Tigers have also extended options for ticket exchanges for those preferring different games or seats of equal value during the 2025 season. Guidance regarding these exchanges is available on the Detroit Tigers’ official website.

The anticipated weather during the series indicates daytime highs in the low to mid-40s, with Monday’s forecast including rain showers and a potential for snow later in the day. Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 22 mph, contributing to the chilly environment.

Tuesday’s forecast looks more favorable with partly sunny skies, while Wednesday may bring more precipitation in the evening. All games in the series will be aired on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit and available on Prime Video. Radio broadcasts will be available in English on 97.1 FM The Ticket and the Detroit Tigers Radio Network, with Spanish options on the Audacy App and La Z WDTW 1310 AM and 107.9 FM.

As the series approaches, both teams are prepared for the challenges presented by the weather. The Tigers are hopeful that their adjustments will create a better game-day experience for players and fans alike, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting few days of baseball at Comerica Park.
