Tigres Femenil and Gotham FC Set for Historic W Champions Cup Final

Nuevo Leon, Mexico – Concacaf has announced that Tigres Femenil and NY/NJ Gotham FC will compete in the Final of the Concacaf W Champions Cup. The match is scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 p.m. ET (8:00 p.m. local time) at Estadio Universitario.
The Final will determine the first-ever women’s club champion of Concacaf, with the winner also earning a spot in the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup and the 2028 FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
Tickets for the Final, along with the Third Place Match between Club America Femenil and Portland Thorns FC at 7:00 p.m. ET, can be purchased through the tournament’s official channels.
In the semifinals held on May 21, 2025, Gotham FC triumphed over Club America Femenil with a score of 3-1. Geyse opened the scoring with a goal from a corner kick in the 21st minute, followed by a penalty from Midge Purce just nine minutes later. An own goal by Club America brought the score to 3-0 before Irene Guerrero scored for America in the 38th minute.
Meanwhile, Tigres Femenil defeated Portland Thorns FC 2-0, with Aaliyah Farmer scoring the opener in the 11th minute. Thembi Kgatlana secured the win with a goal in the 28th minute. Portland will now face Club America in the Third Place Match.
Fans can watch the W Champions Cup Finals through various broadcasting networks in the United States, including CBS Sports platforms and ESPN Deportes. In Canada, matches will be shown on One Soccer, while networks in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean will broadcast the events on ESPN.
The tournament has featured 11 clubs from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, beginning with a Play-In round in August of last year. The championship matches at Estadio Universitario are set to conclude this inaugural season.
The victory over Portland not only took Tigres to the final but marked their eighth consecutive home win across all competitions. Thembi Kgatlana, along with her teammates, has been crucial in Tigres’ successful campaign, making significant contributions throughout the tournament.
The final showdown will offer the opportunity for both Tigres Femenil and Gotham FC to etch their names in the history of women’s football by becoming the inaugural champions of the Concacaf W Champions Cup.
