Tim Tebow California Wildfires Prayer Post

Former NFL player and Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow posted an emotional message on his X account Thursday, offering prayers and thoughts to those affected by the devastating wildfires in California. The fires have burned thousands of acres, destroyed homes, and disrupted the sports world, including the postponement of two games at Crypto.com Arena.

“Like so many of you, I’ve been watching the news lately with a heavy heart. Last week, it was the tragedy in New Orleans. This week, it’s the wildfires in California. Quite honestly, in times like these, I don’t know what else to do but pray,” Tebow wrote. He continued, “And so, Lord, we humbly ask You to bring rain to California. Protect our first responders and give them strength & courage. Comfort those who have lost loved ones, their homes, or their businesses.”

The wildfires have had a significant impact on the sports community. Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick lost his home after his family evacuated. Additionally, the NFL has issued a contingency plan for Monday night’s VikingsRams playoff game, which could be moved from Englewood to Glendale, Arizona, due to the ongoing crisis.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the region has experienced extreme drought conditions, with the last measurable rainfall occurring on May 5. The Eaton fire alone has claimed five lives and destroyed a local clubhouse. California Gov. Gavin Newsom has deployed the National Guard to assist in firefighting efforts, while President Joe Biden met with Newsom to discuss federal support. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has also offered assistance.

Nearly 100 schools in the Los Angeles area have been closed due to the fires, and the community continues to grapple with the devastation. Tebow’s message resonated with many, as he urged people to find hope in challenging times: “Help us all to remember in times like these, that you are the same God today that you have always been – with us, and for us, always.”

Meanwhile, Tebow is set to be the keynote speaker at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Foundation’s 15th annual Scholarship Gala on March 15. The event, which supports student scholarships, will be held at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi.
