Tim Weah Juventus Goal Champions League

Turin, Italy – Tim Weah delivered a pivotal performance for Juventus on Wednesday, scoring an impressive goal in the UEFA Champions League that helped the team maintain its lead against PSV Eindhoven. The American winger, who has adapted to a right-back position for the Italian club, netted the goal from 25 yards in the 64th minute, showcasing his remarkable skill and timing.

Initially, the goal was called offside by the linesman due to an offside position during the build-up. However, video assistant referee (VAR) intervened, confirming that neither the offside player nor the sequence affected the play. This decision allowed Weah to become the fifth player from the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) to score in this year’s Champions League.

Weah’s thunderous strike was significant not only for its brilliance but also for extending the record for American goals in this year’s tournament to 13. His teammate Weston McKennie had previously contributed with a goal in the first leg against PSV, while notable USMNT players such as Christian Pulisic, Malik Tillman, and Ricardo Pepi have also made their marks this season.

PSV, featuring U.S.-eligible player Richy Ledezma, responded soon after Weah’s goal, equalizing the match at 2-1 on the day and leveling the aggregate score at 3-3 just 11 minutes later, forcing the contest into extra time. The outcome of the match ultimately determines which squad advances to the knockout stage against either Inter Milan or Arsenal, with the draw set to take place on Friday.

Speaking after the match, Weah expressed his excitement for the goal, stating, “It felt amazing to see that ball hit the back of the net. We’re all focused on making it far in this tournament, and every goal matters in the chase for glory.”

Juventus had already faced PSV earlier in the season, winning both encounters. In the group stage, Juventus secured a convincing 3-1 victory against the Dutch side. The two teams now return to Philips Stadion for the decisive second leg this week.

As the match unfolds, Juve will look to capitalize on the momentum generated by their recent victory, while PSV aims for an upset to advance in this prestigious tournament.
