Anthony Edwards Timberwolves Game Action

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable for Monday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers due to a right thumb laceration, the team announced.

Edwards, who is key to the Timberwolves’ playoff aspirations, is averaging 27.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game this season. He faced the Pacers last week, scoring 38 points in a 132-130 overtime loss at the Target Center.

Despite the injury, there are indications that Edwards’ condition isn’t serious, and the team is likely exercising caution ahead of the game. Indiana, with a current record of 41-29, is riding a wave of momentum, having won four consecutive games. Monday’s matchup is scheduled to tip off at 6 p.m. CT.

The Timberwolves reported no other injuries of note, which puts additional pressure on the team to perform effectively. Coach Chris Finch mentioned that Edwards’ status would be a game-time decision, adding an element of suspense for both teams as they prepare for a critical showdown.

“His leadership and scoring ability are integral to what we do,” said Finch. “We’ll make a final call closer to tip-off, but it’s encouraging that he is still able to move around.”

If Edwards is unable to play, the Timberwolves will need to rely on other players to fill the scoring void, which could significantly impact their game strategy against an improving Pacers team.

Conversely, the Pacers are also focusing on maintaining their competitive edge as they aim for a strong playoff position in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers’ recent success against tough opponents highlights their capability to capitalize on any potential weakness in the Timberwolves’ lineup.

“Every game is important for us right now,” said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle. “We need to stay sharp and focused on executing our game plan, regardless of who the opponent puts on the court.”

As both teams enter this high-stakes matchup, the absence or presence of Edwards could very well sway the balance of the game.
