Timberwolves’ Dillingham Out for Game 1 Against Warriors

Dillingham, MN
Rob Dillingham has been ruled out for Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday due to a right ankle sprain. The Minnesota Timberwolves guard missed the first round of the playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers because of this injury.
Timberwolves coach Chris Finch indicated that Dillingham’s absence shouldn’t significantly impact the team’s backcourt rotation. Dillingham’s playing time had decreased after early March, limiting his role in the lineup.
As the Warriors prepare for the matchup, they are also dealing with their own injury concerns. Coach Steve Kerr spoke to reporters ahead of the game, addressing Gary Payton II‘s status. Payton missed Game 7 against the Houston Rockets due to illness and traveled with the team while wearing a mask. He is now questionable for Game 1 due to left elbow joint inflammation.
Despite the potential setback, Payton has been an essential player for the Warriors. He averaged 6.5 points, three rebounds, and 1.3 assists during the regular season and had a standout performance in Game 3 against the Rockets, scoring 16 points. His defensive skills would be a valuable asset against Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.
Both teams report nearly full health entering the game, with only Rob Dillingham listed as out for the Timberwolves. Game 1 is set to tip off at Target Center in Minneapolis at 9:30 p.m. EST.
