Timberwolves Edge Warriors 102-97 for 2-1 Series Lead

SAN FRANCISCO, California — The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors 102-97 in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Saturday night. This win gives the Timberwolves a 2-1 lead in the series.
Anthony Edwards led Minnesota with a stellar performance, scoring 36 points despite struggling in the first half. Edwards shot 13-of-28 from the field and was crucial in the fourth quarter, scoring 13 of his points during that period. The Timberwolves rallied from a four-point deficit entering the final quarter, outscoring the Warriors 33-24.
Julius Randle contributed significantly as well, notching a triple-double with 24 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. The Timberwolves needed that depth, especially with Golden State’s Jimmy Butler scoring 33 points for the Warriors, who were again missing star player Steph Curry due to a hamstring injury.
Shooting was a challenge for both teams early on, with the Warriors failing to convert any three-pointers in the first half. They managed to turn things around later, but it was not enough against Minnesota’s late-game surge. Draymond Green fouled out with just over four minutes remaining, leaving the Warriors without one of their key defenders down the stretch.
The loss marked the third consecutive game in the series where the Warriors failed to score 100 points, putting additional pressure on them to win Game 4 set for Monday night in San Francisco. Coach Steve Kerr is expected to make adjustments to his lineup following this defeat.
In a reflected moment of turmoil, Coach Chris Finch praised his team’s effort, particularly Edwards’ energy boost after a lethargic start. ‘He infuses our group with so much energy. We really needed that from him,’ Finch said postgame.
The Timberwolves are now aiming to secure their position in the playoffs and are prepared to face the Warriors again in Game 4.
