Timberwolves Edge Warriors 117-110, Take 3-1 Series Lead

SAN FRANCISCO — The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Golden State Warriors 117-110 on Monday night, taking a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference playoff series.
Anthony Edwards scored 30 points, continuing his impressive playoff run. Julius Randle contributed significantly, finishing with 31 points. The Timberwolves have a chance to clinch the series in Game 5 on Wednesday in Minneapolis.
Golden State has struggled without star guard Stephen Curry, who has missed three consecutive games due to a strained left hamstring. His injury was a pivotal factor as the Warriors sought to maintain their postseason hopes.
During the game, Minnesota went on a decisive 17-0 run in the third quarter, propelled by Edwards’ two 3-pointers, which put them ahead 85-68. They ended the third with a 97-77 lead, outscoring the Warriors substantially in that quarter.
Edwards also had a memorable moment at halftime, sinking a 30-foot 3-pointer to close the half. The Timberwolves have been consistent in the second halves of their games, showing resilience after trailing at halftime.
Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga had a standout performance, scoring 23 points and hitting 11 of his 12 free throw attempts. Despite his efforts, the Warriors struggled with their shooting, particularly from beyond the arc, finishing 8 of 27 from three-point range.
In the third quarter, the Timberwolves’ defensive strategy was effective, disrupting Golden State’s offensive flow. Head coach Chris Finch emphasized stopping the Warriors’ long-range shooting, which has been a hallmark of their game.
Buddy Hield briefly left the game after a foul but returned. The Timberwolves kept their focus and maintained their lead, ultimately securing the victory.
The Warriors now face an elimination game in Game 5, hoping to have Curry back to boost their chances. His condition will be evaluated on the same day as the game.
