Timberwolves Extend Winning Streak to Seven, Eye Playoff Position

Minnesota, MN — The Minnesota Timberwolves have officially surged back into playoff contention, extending their winning streak to seven games with a 118-111 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday night. After a challenging start to the season, the Timberwolves are looking to solidify a top-six seed in the Western Conference as the regular season nears its end.
With only 14 games remaining, Minnesota currently holds the No. 7 seed, just one game behind the Golden State Warriors for the No. 6 spot. Although Golden State maintains the tiebreaker, Minnesota is demonstrating that they can pose serious challenges with their current form.
During their seven-game streak, the Timberwolves have been hitting the three-pointer at an impressive rate, averaging over 18 made threes per game with an accuracy of over 42%. This performance leads the league in both categories. Anthony Edwards, who has been a reliable scorer, is contributing significantly with his shooting, averaging nearly 40% on close to 10 attempts per game during the winning stretch.
“The support from our bench has been critical,” said Timberwolves Coach Chris Finch. “Guys like Donte DiVincenzo have stepped up in a big way, finding his rhythm and providing spacing for our shooters.” DiVincenzo has made at least three threes in 11 of his last 13 games, turning around a rocky start to the season.
Another vital contributor has been Julius Randle, who has participated in all seven games of the streak. Randle’s improved performance includes a shooting percentage of over 50%, averaging six assists per game while facilitating plays effectively.
While Minnesota’s schedule during the streak has included victories over teams like the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat, the Timberwolves also dismantled the Denver Nuggets, a team they eliminated from last year’s playoffs, going 3-0 against them this season. This mix of victories speaks to Minnesota’s competitiveness.
“We have been connecting on defense and offense,” Randle stated after the game. “It’s a team effort. Everyone is finding their shots and knowing when to pass.”
Despite a favorable stretch in their schedule, the Timberwolves are fully aware that tougher matchups lie ahead. They face the Utah Jazz next, the only team to beat Minnesota during the month of February. Coach Finch emphasized the importance of maintaining their intensity: “Every game counts. We can’t take our foot off the pedal now, especially with playoff positioning at stake.”
The Timberwolves are due for a rematch against Utah on Sunday night, aiming to build on their winning streak and fortify their playoff aspirations. Maintaining focus will be critical as they navigate through the remaining games of the season.
