Timberwolves Utah Jazz Game Highlights March 2025

Minnesota, March 17, 2025 — The Minnesota Timberwolves achieved a significant milestone on Sunday night, extending their winning streak to eight games with a commanding 128-102 victory over the Utah Jazz at Target Center. This marks the team’s longest winning streak in 21 years.

Star guard Anthony Edwards was integral to the victory, scoring 41 points before resting for the final quarter. This win comes after the Wolves lost to the Jazz in their previous encounter on February 28, a game where Edwards was serving a one-game suspension for accumulating 16 technical fouls this season.

Following the February loss, Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels emphasized the urgency to perform, describing it as “desperation time, for real.” Since that point, the Wolves have not looked back, securing multiple wins to bolster their playoff positioning.

“We responded well [since that loss],” said McDaniels, who notched his 10th double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds. “We’re on a little mission right now trying to not be in the play-in. All these games count. We just gotta keep stacking.”

The Wolves started the game strong, initially establishing a 19-point lead. Despite briefly allowing the Jazz to reduce the deficit, the Timberwolves regrouped during the third quarter, outpacing their opponents and ultimately securing the game comfortably.

Head Coach Chris Finch lauded his team’s performance, describing it as “professional.” Finch achieved his 200th career victory with the Timberwolves, benefiting from the advantageous lead that enabled him to conserve players’ energy ahead of an upcoming back-to-back matchup.

“Couldn’t have asked for anything better,” Finch said. “You didn’t have to burn through a lot of guys’ minutes tonight unnecessarily, which is a good sign with a good professional win.”

Edwards’ impressive performance not only brought him 41 points but also allowed him to surpass Andrew Wiggins in franchise history, securing third place in points with 8,731 throughout his five seasons. Reflecting on his game, Edwards acknowledged his desire to perform even better.

“I wanted to go for like 60,” Edwards noted with a smile. “I thought I was on pace after the first quarter, but when you sit a little bit, you get kind of cold. I missed like four or five threes I usually make in the second, and that’s still on my mind. I’m definitely mad about that.”

With veteran guard Mike Conley resting, Jaylen Clark stepped up in the backcourt, making a significant defensive impact with three steals and forcing turnovers. His ability to apply pressure to opposing ballhandlers drew praise from both teammates and Coach Finch.

“It’s just something I’ve always done,” Clark explained. “People relax out there. It brings a different element to the game, gives your guys behind you time to set up. It makes them uncomfortable.”

Coach Finch commended Clark’s contributions, emphasizing his trust in Clark’s abilities on both ends of the floor. “First of all, he adds to our defensive identity,” Finch remarked. “Two is, I trust him implicitly in this playing time. I trust him offensively as much as I trust him defensively.”

As the Timberwolves continue their quest for a playoff spot, they remain focused on their performance and team cohesion, buoyed by their current success and the contributions from players like Edwards and Clark.
