Timberwolves Lakers Playoff Game April 2025

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 116-104 on Friday night, clinching a 2-1 lead in their first-round playoff series. Jaden McDaniels scored a career-high 30 points, while Anthony Edwards added 29 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.

The game was closely contested until the final minutes, with the score tied at 103 with just over four minutes remaining. The Timberwolves closed out the game with a decisive 13-1 run, showcasing their defensive prowess and offensive execution.

Julius Randle contributed significantly, finishing with 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists. His aggressive play helped the Timberwolves dominate the paint, outscoring the Lakers 56-26 in that area.

Lakers’ star LeBron James was a force, scoring 38 points, but struggled with decision-making late in the game. His performance made history, marking the highest playoff points scored by a player in their 40s. However, he was unable to navigate the Timberwolves’ defense effectively during crucial moments.

Despite the loss, Lakers’ Austin Reaves scored 20 points, helping to keep the game competitive. The Lakers will need to address their 19 turnovers, which the Timberwolves converted into 28 points, if they hope to bounce back in Game 4.

The series will continue in Los Angeles on Sunday. Timberwolves coach Chris Finch praised his team’s effort, stating, “Our best closing effort of the year, no doubt.”
