Titans Interview Thomas Dimitroff for General Manager Position
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Titans conducted a first-round virtual interview on Friday with former Atlanta Falcons General Manager Thomas Dimitroff for their vacant GM position. The interview marks the latest step in the Titans’ search for a new leader to oversee football operations.
Dimitroff, a 28-year NFL veteran, served as the Falcons’ GM from 2008 to 2020, building a team that reached Super Bowl LI and made six postseason appearances during his tenure. He was named NFL Executive of the Year in 2008 and 2010, earning recognition for his ability to construct competitive rosters.
Prior to his time in Atlanta, Dimitroff worked as the director of college scouting for the New England Patriots from 2003 to 2007, contributing to the team’s dynasty under head coach Bill Belichick. His scouting career began in the Canadian Football League with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before transitioning to the NFL, where he held roles with the Kansas City Chiefs, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, and Patriots.
In January 2022, Dimitroff co-founded SumerSports, a football analytics company focused on providing advanced quantitative analysis for player acquisition and roster management in the NFL. His expertise in both traditional scouting and modern analytics makes him a unique candidate for the Titans’ GM role.
The Titans are in the midst of a comprehensive search for a new general manager after parting ways with Ran Carthon earlier this month. Carthon, who was hired prior to the 2023 season, posted a 9-25 record during his tenure, including a 3-14 campaign in 2024 that secured the Titans the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Chad Brinker, the Titans’ president of football operations, is leading the GM search. The team plans to interview a wide range of candidates, including personnel evaluators from across the league. In addition to Dimitroff, the Titans have already interviewed Dolphins Senior Personnel Executive Reggie McKenzie and are expected to meet with other top candidates in the coming days.
The Titans’ next general manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s future, particularly with the No. 1 draft pick and a roster in need of significant upgrades. The organization is seeking a leader who can blend traditional scouting methods with modern analytics to build a sustainable contender.
