West Coast‘s star defender, Tom Barrass, is likely on the move. Reports suggest he wants to join Hawthorn and is keen to sign a long-term deal with the team.

Barrass, who has been a key player for the Eagles, is contracted until 2027. However, he seems to be angling for a five-year contract with the Hawks, which makes it clear he’s looking for a new challenge.

The Eagles are reportedly ready to ask for a lot in return if they go through with the trade, possibly multiple first-round draft selections. With Hawthorn currently holding the 11th pick in the draft, they’ll need to come up with a creative plan to satisfy West Coast.

At 28 years old, Barrass is no stranger to injury challenges. Despite being one of the Eagles’ best players, he has never played a full season, which raises some questions about his durability going forward.

In other trade news, Tim English from Western Bulldogs is also expected to turn down a lucrative offer from West Coast to stay at his current club. The Bulldogs are feeling confident he’ll stick around, especially after being offered a fresh five-year deal.
