LOS ANGELES (AP) — As Tom Brady transitions into his new role as a Fox Sports NFL analyst, rumors about his future with the network and his involvement with the Las Vegas Raiders continue to swirl, prompting Fox executives to address the speculation head-on.

Brad Zager, Fox Sports president of production and operations, dismissed the ongoing narratives as a “never-ending, merry-go-round” during a phone interview with The Associated Press on Friday. “Tom has done nothing but be engaged with us every time he’s asked about broadcasting,” Zager said. “He’s 100% committed and has never wavered on that.”

Brady, who signed a 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox in May 2022 while still playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, retired after the 2022 season and took a year off before joining the network. Despite his high-profile move to broadcasting, rumors have persisted about his commitment and potential conflicts of interest due to his 5% ownership stake in the Raiders.

Don Yee, Brady’s agent, told Sports Business Journal on Thursday that Brady “has had a tremendous amount of fun working with Fox this year” and is “excited about the future with Fox.” Yee emphasized that this season marks the beginning of a long-term relationship between Brady and the network.

However, Brady’s dual role as an analyst and Raiders minority owner has raised questions about potential conflicts. The NFL has imposed strict guidelines, prohibiting Brady from participating in Fox’s production meetings with teams, attending practices, or entering any team’s training complex except for the Raiders. These restrictions were put in place after Brady purchased his stake in the Raiders in May 2023.

Zager defended Brady’s professionalism, calling any suggestions of a conflict “ridiculous.” He noted that Brady receives the same film and statistical information as other analysts and has grown in his role throughout the season. “It’s been awesome to watch Tom jump into this, having no broadcast experience, and calling the NFL’s biggest games,” Zager said. “He continues to find his rhythm and those spots where he can really shine during a game.”

Brady’s analysis has been subject to additional scrutiny due to his Raiders ownership, but Zager said Brady has been critical of play calls and strategies like any other analyst. “It’s questioning his professionalism and integrity. It’s ridiculous,” Zager added.

As Fox prepares for its coverage of the NFC divisional round game between the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders, attention has focused on Brady’s involvement in the Raiders’ head coach and general manager search. Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn are among the candidates for the Raiders’ head coach opening.

Despite the challenges, Zager expressed confidence in Brady’s ability to contribute to Fox’s broadcasts during the postseason. “I’m looking forward to these next three games, which are the biggest games, and what he’s going to add to the broadcast,” Zager said.

Brady’s move to Fox has drawn comparisons to other high-profile broadcasting transitions, such as Troy Aikman and Joe Buck’s move to ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” in 2022. However, Brady’s unique position as both an analyst and team owner has added a layer of complexity to his new role.

As the NFL playoffs unfold, all eyes will be on Brady—both in the broadcast booth and behind the scenes with the Raiders.
