Tom Daley is gearing up for the men’s 10m synchronised platform final today, teaming up with Noah Williams for the big event. Daley, who first captured the hearts of the nation back at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games when he was just 14, is now diving at his fifth Olympics.

After winning his long-awaited gold medal in Tokyo 2020, Daley feels a bit less pressure this time around. He shared that having his kids watching him in the stands is what he’s looking forward to most. “For me, my Olympic gold medal at this time is having my kids there to watch,” he said, reflecting on his journey.

Daley recently expressed how proud he is of himself for taking two years off to focus on his training and return to competitive diving. “I know lots of people have been all, ‘If it’s anything less than gold will it be a disappointment?’ But actually, no,” he stated. “I wanted to set an example for my kids that if you have a dream and want to go for it, you can.”

Tom Daley shares two sons, Robbie and Phoenix, with his husband Dustin Lance Black. Talking a bit about Black, he is a well-known American screenwriter and producer, famous for his work on the film Milk, which earned him an Academy Award in 2009. Black’s background includes a childhood in a Mormon family, which impacted much of his later work.

The couple met at a dinner in 2013 and quickly hit it off, recounting their first moments together fondly. “Love is a commitment to me – something that goes deep,” Black once said. Their relationship blossomed, and they became an official couple soon after their first meeting.

Daley publicly came out as queer in 2013, sharing his happiness about his relationship with Black. They later announced their engagement in 2015, capturing a fun moment when Daley proposed in an unexpected setting. The couple married in May 2017 at a special ceremony with friends and family in attendance.

In 2018, they celebrated the birth of their first child, Robert Ray, and welcomed their second son, Phoenix Rose, in April 2023. Daley expressed the transformative experience of becoming a parent, highlighting the incredible love he feels for his children.
