Tomáš Tatar Signs Two-Year Deal with EVZ from New Jersey

Zug, SwitzerlandTomáš Tatar has signed a two-year contract with EV Zug, starting next season. The Slovakian forward joins the team from the New Jersey Devils, filling the center position the team needed.

Tatar, 34, has had an impressive career spanning 16 seasons in North America, including 14 years in the National Hockey League (NHL). Over his career, he has played 927 regular season games and 56 playoff games with teams like the Detroit Red Wings, Vegas Golden Knights, Montréal Canadiens, Colorado Avalanche, and Seattle Kraken, amassing 509 points through 234 goals and 275 assists.

A notable aspect of Tatar’s career is his international experience. He has worn the Slovak national team jersey 69 times and served as captain in last year’s World Cup. He was also a key player when Slovakia won silver at the World Cup in 2012, where he was the youngest player on the team at age 21, contributing five points.

“With his enormous experience from almost 1000 NHL games and his game intelligence, he is an important reinforcement on our center line,” said EV Zug General Manager Reto Kläy.

Tatar, known for his technical skills and game awareness, has played mainly as a winger in recent years. Kläy mentioned, “With us, he will be used as a center.”
