Tommy Fleetwood and Clare Attend Ryder Cup Night Amid Family Health Concerns

Sands Point, N.Y. — Tommy Fleetwood and his wife, Clare, made a notable appearance at the Ryder Cup welcome dinner Tuesday night, standing out in a gathering that launched the international golf competition. Despite recent family hardships, Clare, 57, supported her husband as festivities commenced in New York.
Fleetwood, 34, revealed at the Tour Championship in August that their middle son, Mo, had undergone a spinal operation, necessitating Clare and Mo’s absence from the event. “They were unable to travel,” he noted, explaining that Mo spent three and a half weeks in the hospital.
Clare’s presence at the Ryder Cup marks her return to public appearances after a period of avoiding the spotlight due to concerns over their 23-year age gap. She was seen alongside fellow golfer Shane Lowry‘s wife, Wendy Honner, proudly waving European flags during the Opening Ceremony.
Clare admitted previously to feeling ‘paranoid’ about public opinions regarding their relationship but has ultimately chosen to support Fleetwood in his endeavors. She remained steadfast as Fleetwood triumphed in his first PGA Tour event and celebrated the moment with her stepson, Oscar.
“To engage with the crowd is really important,” Fleetwood shared ahead of this year’s Ryder Cup. “It’s great to soak up that atmosphere, home or away,” he added, acknowledging the reception he received from fans.
The Ryder Cup matches are set to begin Friday, with morning foursomes starting at 7:10 a.m. and four-ball matches following at 12:25 p.m. Singles matches are scheduled for Sunday at noon. Team Europe, the current champions, is poised to defend their title in this exciting competition.
