Tony Boselli Returns to Jaguars as Executive VP of Football Operations
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tony Boselli, the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ first-ever draft pick and a Pro Football Hall of Famer, has been named the team’s Executive Vice President of Football Operations, owner Shad Khan announced Monday. Boselli, a cornerstone of the franchise’s early years, will now play a pivotal role in shaping its future.
“I just feel this is the moment, and this is the right moment,” Boselli said. “I’m super-grateful to Shad and his family that they’re allowing me to do this. It really is a privilege.”
Boselli, 52, will report directly to Khan alongside new Head Coach Liam Coen and the team’s incoming general manager, who is expected to be hired by the end of February. Together, the trio will form a leadership unit tasked with making major football decisions, developing long-term strategies, and ensuring sustained on-field success.
“Few people have better relationships throughout the NFL, know the game, and understand the value of strong team identity and culture as well as Tony Boselli,” Khan said in a statement. “Tony has a wealth of football acumen that we respect and need, and his counsel will be tremendously valuable to me and our football leadership team during this current rebirth and for many seasons to come.”
In his new role, Boselli will oversee player engagement, football technology, logistics, equipment, sports performance, and team security. He will also serve as a liaison between football operations and the business side of the organization, ensuring alignment across all departments.
Boselli emphasized that his focus will be on supporting Coen and the new general manager. “My job is not to be out front; my job is to help Liam Coen, his staff, and the new GM to have success,” he said. “That’s all I want to do. That’s all I care about.”
Boselli and Coen share a similar vision for the team, prioritizing toughness, control of the line of scrimmage, and clear communication. “Liam’s going to be the voice. Not Tony Boselli,” Boselli said. “He and his coaches are going to set the culture. We are all there to support that and help establish that.”
Before rejoining the Jaguars, Boselli served as president and chief growth officer for all.health, a digital health care company. He also founded Healthy Schools, a nonprofit providing free vaccinations and physicals to students, and held leadership roles at Optum, a prominent health care company.
Boselli’s connection to the Jaguars runs deep. Drafted second overall in 1995, he spent seven seasons with the team, earning five Pro Bowl selections and three All-Pro honors. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
“My passion for this team, these fans, and this city has defined my football life,” Boselli said. “Today, that relationship has evolved to include this exciting opportunity, and I find my emotions remarkably similar to what I felt upon being drafted as a Jacksonville Jaguar in 1995.”
