Wilkins Basketball Recruit Decision

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Wilkins, the No. 31-ranked player in the class of 2026, is set to announce his college decision today at 4:00 p.m. EST. The 6-foot-8 power forward, currently at Wolfeboro’s Brewster Academy, has narrowed his options down to Duke and Maryland after recent visits to both programs.

Wilkins showcased his skills at the Adidas 3SSB event last weekend, where scouts from both universities had the chance to evaluate him. He expressed enthusiasm about his visits, highlighting the prestigious history of both basketball programs. “It was amazing at Duke. You don’t really have to say much because everybody knows what Duke is about and their history,” Wilkins said.

At Duke, Coach Jon Scheyer emphasized that he sees Wilkins making an immediate impact. “They kind of recruit people that they think can make an impact. Duke isn’t for everyone, so they were showing that they believe in me,” Wilkins added.

In contrast, Wilkins mentioned his long-standing relationship with the Maryland coaching staff. “I have a great relationship with them that has been growing for years,” he noted. “It was a great visit; I learned about the campus and Maryland’s history, and what they have to sell.”

National Director of Scouting Adam Finkelstein provided insights on Wilkins’ potential. “He has evolved into a modern-day combo-forward who can play and defend multiple positions,” he stated. Wilkins has developed his range and skills, but he still needs to improve consistency, especially from long-range shooting.

Wilkins’ decision is keenly anticipated, as his commitment to either school could significantly impact their recruiting classes. If he decides to reclassify and enroll in 2025, Wilkins would be joining an already impressive roster at Duke.

Wilkins will announce his college choice live on the 247Sports YouTube channel, adding to the excitement surrounding his recruitment. Will it be the Blue Devils or the Terrapins?
