Top Scorer Justin Poirier Drafted by Hurricanes in NHL Draft
Justin Poirier, the leading goal scorer of the 2023-2024 season in the Ligue de hockey junior Maritimes Québec, has been selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL Draft held in Las Vegas.
The standout forward from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, who netted an impressive 51 goals during the regular season, was picked in the fifth round, at the 156th overall.
Standing at 5’8 Poirier becomes the third player from the Drakkar drafted in 2024, following Alexis Bernier chosen by the Seattle Kraken (3rd round, 73rd overall) and Raoul Boilard selected by the New York Rangers (4th round, 119th overall).
