Top Stars Clash at 2025 Miami Open: Zverev, Fritz, and Draper Take Center Stage

MIAMI, Florida — A host of top tennis stars, including Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, and Jack Draper, are set to begin their campaigns at the 2025 Miami Open, one of the premier events on the ATP tour, taking place from March 19-30 at Hard Rock Stadium.
The event draws in some of the biggest names in tennis, with Zverev leading the pack as the top seed. He will face British qualifier Jakub Mensik in his opening match on Saturday. American hope Fritz is also set to play at Grandstand against his opponent, while Draper looks to capitalize on his recent success at Indian Wells as he takes on Czech player Tomáš Macháč.
Returning to the tournament is Joao Fonseca, who turned heads with his first-round victory, and will compete against 19th-seeded Grigor Dimitrov. Djokovic, a six-time Miami Open champion, returns for the first time in six years, aiming for his 100th ATP title. He will play in the evening session on Stadium court.
The schedule also includes notable match-ups such as defending champion Jannik Sinner, who is absent this year due to suspension, and the highly regarded Daniil Medvedev, who reached the semifinals at Indian Wells last week.
As Miami has historically been a ground for American talent, local favorites like Danielle Collins, Jessica Pegula, and Madison Keys are expected to perform well on home turf. Collins, the last American woman to win the Miami Open, is vying for a repeat in 2025.
With the Miami hard courts considered one of the most balanced surfaces in professional tennis, the stage is set for an intense fortnight of competition. Top women players, including Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka, are also bringing their game to Miami, seeking to add another title to their resumes.
The Miami Open is part of the ‘Sunshine Swing,’ attracting talent from all over the globe. The first-round matches are already underway, creating anticipation among fans and players alike.
“I’m looking forward to playing in Miami,” Zverev said during a press conference. “The atmosphere here is incredible, and it’s a tournament I have always wanted to win.”
The tournament will also broadcast live on multiple networks, including Tennis Channel in the U.S., Sky Sports in the UK, and others around the world, ensuring that fans can tune in to watch the action unfold.
