Tornado Spotted Near Alligator Alley Amid South Florida Weather Warnings
A tornado was observed on Wednesday morning near Alligator Alley in Broward County, Florida, amidst severe weather warnings in the region. Local meteorologist Brandon Orr from Local 10 confirmed the tornado’s presence in the Everglades area, though it reportedly did not affect any residential or commercial structures. Orr mentioned, “It’s hard to tell whether it actually crossed Alligator Alley.”
This tornado sighting occurred after the National Weather Service had issued a tornado watch effective until 9 p.m. for several counties, including mainland Monroe, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach. Additionally, South Florida was placed under a tropical storm warning due to escalating weather conditions.
Several tornado sightings were reported by Local 10 viewers in Southwest Ranches, Pembroke Pines, and Weston earlier in the day. Eyewitness Anna Atkinson provided evidence of a tornado in West Pembroke Pines, while Kevin Fantis reported a sighting in Southwest Ranches.
At approximately the same time, a tornado was spotted on the ground near Interstate 75 at Snake Road, located near the boundary between Broward and Collier Counties. This particular occurrence was noted to have begun near Weston before moving towards the regions west of Coral Springs and Tamarac.
The presence of these tornadoes coincides with what some meteorologists are referring to as an “enhanced risk” of tornadoes in the area, a condition exacerbated by the broader tropical storm conditions. South Florida residents are urged to remain vigilant and stay informed through local news channels and weather apps that are providing continuous updates on the situation.
