2025 Women's College World Series Softball Teams

Oklahoma City, OK — As the 2025 NCAA softball tournament approaches, several teams face daunting regional schedules on the road to the Women’s College World Series (WCWS). Arizona, Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama are considered to have the toughest paths ahead.

Arizona will compete against a formidable Ole Miss team fresh off a strong SEC tournament run, alongside Grand Canyon. Tennessee faces tough challenges from Ohio State, which leads the nation in home runs, and North Carolina, among others. Additionally, Miami (OH), led by Jenna Golembiewski, has a reputation for upsetting stronger teams despite having 24 losses this season.

LSU’s regional appears especially tough, featuring Nebraska, UConn, and Southeastern Louisiana. Nebraska is led by standout Jordy Bahl, who excels on both offense and defense. UConn also boasts significant power in its batting lineup.

However, Alabama may have the most challenging situation. Earning the No. 15 national seed, the Crimson Tide must face Virginia Tech, Belmont, and Jackson State in their regional. Virginia Tech, with the nation’s top home run hitter, Cori McMillan, and strong pitcher Emma Lemley, adds to the difficulty of Alabama’s path.

If Alabama progresses past these challenges, they may face Oklahoma in the super regionals. This matchup would require the Tide to travel to Norman, where they would battle against the four-time defending national champions in front of a passionate crowd.

The unpredictability of the tournament adds extra tension. Teams like Miami (OH) have previously surprised stronger opponents, reminding all that anything can happen in postseason play.

The 2025 NCAA Division I Softball Championship is set to run from May 29 to June 5/6 in Oklahoma City, highlighting a grueling road for teams aiming for a spot in the Women’s College World Series.
