Travis Head Registers King Pair In Second Test Against West Indies

Australia‘s batsman, Travis Head, joined an unwanted list of players by registering a King Pair in Test cricket during the second Test against West Indies at the iconic Gabba in Brisbane. This makes him the third Australian player to achieve this record, with Adam Gilchrist and Ryan Harris being the other two.

The term ‘King Pair’ is used in Test cricket to describe when a player is dismissed for a golden duck, meaning they get out in the first ball of their innings. Only 24 players, including Head, have ever achieved this in the history of Test cricket.

On the fourth day of the match, West Indies made a sensational comeback by defending a target of 156 runs. Young pacer Shamar Joseph played a key role in this turnaround, demolishing Australia’s middle-order in no time. He took two consecutive wickets, dismissing Cameron Green and Travis Head, and was on a hat-trick when he bowled to Steve Smith. However, Smith managed to flick the ball down the leg side and avoid the hat-trick.

Travis Head’s dismissal occurred in the second innings of the match when he was bowled by Shamar Joseph. In the first innings, Head was dismissed by Kemar Roach.
