Trevor Story Powers Red Sox to Victory Over White Sox with Two Home Runs

BOSTON — Trevor Story propelled the Boston Red Sox to a 10-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night, showcasing his talent with two three-run home runs. The game took place on April 18, 2025, as the Red Sox began a seven-game homestand.
Story, who went 3 for 4 at the plate, recorded his 20th career multi-homer game, bringing Rafael Devers and Alex Bregman home each time he connected. The Red Sox’s offensive effort surged thanks to Hunter Dobbins, who made his second big-league start, pitching six strong innings and striking out six batters.
Dobbins, now 2-0, allowed two runs—one earned—and four hits during his outing. He demonstrated exceptional control, issuing no walks and not surrendering a hit until the fourth inning. Ceddanne Rafaela also contributed by hitting his first home run of the season, while Carlos Narvaez celebrated his first career homer.
The White Sox managed to score with a solo homer from former Red Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi in the fourth inning, but that was their only highlight as the team faced its fifth consecutive loss. In stark contrast, the Red Sox have now won three straight games.
White Sox starter Martin Perez struggled, allowing four runs over three innings and was taken out due to left forearm soreness. Three runs came from Story’s monumental hit in the first inning.
Before the game, the Red Sox activated All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman from the paternity list after he missed only one game. Bregman’s presence in the lineup added depth against the White Sox.
The game’s turning point came quickly, with Story batting first during the bottom of the first inning and hitting a home run on the very first pitch he faced. This home run established Boston’s early 3-0 lead and set the stage for their triumph.
Dressed in their City Connect jerseys, which pay tribute to the upcoming Boston Marathon, the Red Sox improved their historical record to 36-14 in these distinctive yellow uniforms.
Looking ahead, the teams will clash again on Saturday, featuring White Sox RHP Shane Smith (0-1, 2.04) against Red Sox LHP Garrett Crochet (2-1, 1.38). Crochet previously took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the White Sox just last Sunday.
