Trump Honors Los Angeles Dodgers for World Series Victory

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump celebrated the 2024 World Series Champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, during a ceremony at the White House on April 7. The event recognized the team’s impressive season and included remarks from both the president and team officials.
In his address, Trump praised the Dodgers as “very talented people” and commended their achievements throughout the season. “What great athletes,” Trump noted, highlighting the skills that led the team to victory.
The celebration featured the Dodgers’ owner, Mark Walter, and manager, Dave Roberts. Roberts expressed gratitude for the opportunity each World Series champion has to visit the White House, calling it a significant honor.
Shortstop Mookie Betts, who had previously indicated he might skip the event, ultimately chose to attend. Trump remarked on Betts’ performance, saying, “Mookie! That guy can play. He’s fast as hell.” Betts reflected on his decision to join the team at the White House, stating, “It’s important for me to be there with them, to be able to look in the mirror at night and know I did what I felt was best for the Dodgers.”
During the ceremony, Trump shared his passion for baseball, admitting that he doesn’t have the chance to watch games as often as he would like. However, he underscored his love for the sport while introducing Walter to share his perspectives.
As part of the celebration, various team members gathered to commemorate their victory and enjoy the recognition from the nation’s capital. The Dodgers achieved a historic feat with their win, and the White House reception served to highlight their accomplishments for a broader audience.
“Last season was an incredible season,” Trump concluded, emphasizing the significant impact the team had on baseball and the sports community.
