Twins’ Bader Sits Out as Struggling Offense Faces Mets

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Minnesota Twins are making adjustments ahead of their game against the New York Mets on Monday, as outfielder Harrison Bader is out of the starting lineup after going hitless in his last 13 at-bats spanning four games.
Bader, who has struggled offensively, will watch from the bench as Trevor Larnach takes over in left field. Edouard Julien will serve as the designated hitter for the matchup.
In the previous game, a victory over the Detroit Tigers, Bader struggled significantly, registering no hits despite consistent opportunities as the team seeks to improve its offensive performance.
The absence of Bader presents an opportunity for Larnach, who has been a reliable option for the Twins. Specifically, he replaces Bader in left field, showcasing the Twins’ strategy to reshuffle their lineup amid a rocky start to the season.
The Twins have faced challenges, with key players like Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa also underperforming. Buxton notably has had a dismal start to the season, batting only .171 and striking out 37% of the time. His struggles have contributed to the team’s overall 3-8 record.
“A day off is probably a good idea for Buxton after striking out four times in Tuesday’s loss,” a Twins spokesperson said. “He’s shown potential, but he needs to find a rhythm at the plate.”
Buxton managed to stay healthy enough to start every game in center field but has yet to recapture his form, leading to his absence from the lineup against the Mets.
On the positive side, Keirsey Jr., who secured his fourth major league start, is expected to bring energy and speed to the game. His prior performances with the St. Paul Saints earned him this opportunity, and he aims to capitalize on it.
As the Mets enter the series opener, both teams are looking to solidify their strategies. Joe Ryan is set to take the mound for the Twins, going against the Mets’ starting pitcher Seth Lugo. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CT.
