BOURNEMOUTH, England — Tyler Adams has been the catalyst behind Bournemouth‘s remarkable 10-game unbeaten run in the Premier League, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s most effective defensive midfielders. Since his return from back surgery in late October, Bournemouth has surged up the table, earning 2.2 points per game during this stretch.

Adams, who joined Bournemouth after Leeds United‘s relegation, has been instrumental in the team’s defensive improvements. Since his return to the starting lineup on Nov. 30, Bournemouth has increased its ball recovery rate to 58%, improved its expected goals (xG) per shot faced, and intensified its pressing game. “It’s a controlled chaos,” Adams told TNT Sports after a recent win. “We want to make the game as chaotic as possible but controlled for us.”

The 25-year-old midfielder has also posted impressive individual statistics, ranking among the Premier League’s top players in tackles, interceptions, and aerial duels. His performances have been pivotal in key victories, including a 3-0 win at Manchester United and a 4-1 rout of Newcastle United.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has praised Adams’ impact, calling him a “vital part” of the team’s system. “The system we play requires a certain type of player, and Tyler fits perfectly,” Iraola said. “His ability to press, run, and compete is unmatched.”

Adams’ resurgence comes at a crucial time for both Bournemouth and the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT). After missing much of 2023 due to injury, Adams is now focused on maintaining his fitness ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in North America. USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino has emphasized the importance of Adams’ availability, calling him a “glue guy” for the national team.

For Bournemouth, the challenge will be to keep Adams healthy and find adequate midfield cover during the January transfer window. With Adams in top form, the club is eyeing a strong finish to the season and a potential push for European qualification.
