Tyler Lockett: A Strategic Fantasy Football Analysis
Tyler Lockett, a key wide receiver for fantasy football enthusiasts, ranks as the WR51 in terms of fantasy points per game. Despite this moderate ranking, Lockett has consistently demonstrated a reliable performance with a high floor in recent matches. In three out of five games, he has managed to secure at least four receptions and amassed a minimum of 61 receiving yards. However, his fantasy value has been adversely affected by his inability to score a touchdown thus far in the current season.
In terms of contributions to his team, Lockett holds a 14.6% target share and a 22.9% air-yard share. His yards per route run (YPRR) stand at 1.62, and he is responsible for an 18.1% share of the first-read targets. Over the past two games, the San Francisco defense has increasingly employed a single-high coverage with the twelfth-highest rate in the league, at 61.1%. Interestingly, Lockett’s statistical performance against this type of coverage has shown little fluctuation, though his first-read share has seen a slight increase to 19.4%.
This week, Lockett is expected to run approximately 72% of his routes against defenders Isaac Yiadom and Charvarius Ward. Yiadom currently maintains a 68.8% catch rate with a passer rating of 115.9, while Ward has a 56.5% catch rate and a 99.5 passer rating. Despite these matchups, analysts suggest benching Lockett due to the challenging nature of the opponent’s pass defense. Notably, this defense has conceded the second-fewest points per reception and the sixth-fewest receiving yards per game to wide receivers positioned on the perimeter.
