The Penrith Panthers secured a vital victory against the South Sydney Rabbitohs with a score of 34-12 at BlueBet Stadium, marking their return to the top two and ensuring a top-four finish.

Despite the loss extending to six consecutive matches for the Rabbitohs, 19-year-old Tyrone Munro managed to add a highlight to the game by scoring two tries. Remarkably, this performance came just 48 hours after the passing of his mother.

Munro demonstrated exceptional fortitude as he took to the field, contributing significantly with a linebreak and accumulating 166 metres along with his tries. His first try came during a strong start from the Panthers, who quickly established an 18-0 lead.

In the first half, James Fisher-Harris initiated the scoring for Penrith, followed shortly by a try from Luke Garner, who celebrated his 100th game. The Panthers continued their momentum with contributions from Brad Schneider and Sunia Turuva, who scored two tries within a span of three minutes.

South Sydney faced further challenges as Keaon Koloamatangi received a sin-bin for a foul on Fisher-Harris when he was without the ball. The Panthers took full advantage of this opportunity, with Isaah Yeo scoring shortly thereafter.

While Nathan Cleary‘s absence was felt due to a shoulder injury, Jarome Luai and Isaah Yeo rose to the occasion. Luai notably set up three tries and executed a remarkable performance that showcased his ability to lead the team effectively.

Concurrently, Yeo delivered an outstanding captaincy performance, contributing with his own try, assisting another, and leading the team in defensive tactics with a total of 34 tackles.

Despite his recent losses, Munro’s commendable performance earned respect from both his teammates and opponents, illustrating his potential and resilience in facing personal challenges during the season.
