Ucla Baseball Vs Utsa Super Regionals

LOS ANGELES, California — The UCLA Bruins are set to compete against the UTSA Roadrunners in the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals, beginning June 7 at 7 p.m. ET. This matchup follows UCLA’s impressive victory in the Los Angeles Regional, where they secured their eighth regional title by defeating Fresno State, Arizona State, and UC Irvine with a total score of 38-14.

UTSA, making history with their first appearance in the Super Regionals, gained attention last weekend by upsetting the second-seeded Texas Longhorns. The Roadrunners won three back-to-back games, marking their first-ever regional victory in NCAA tournament history after struggling through previous tournament appearances.

“We can be a tournament spoiler after beating Texas,” said UTSA outfielder James Taussig. The Roadrunners enter this series with momentum, aiming to advance to the College World Series, which would mark the first time in program history.

UCLA, a more experienced contender with a record of 45-16 this season, is positioned as a formidable opponent. They have reached the NCAA tournament 11 times since 2010 and captured the championship in 2013. Their average of 8.16 runs per game compares closely to UTSA’s 8.8 runs, but UCLA’s pitching staff has demonstrated more consistency, ranking 31st nationally with an ERA of 4.53.

The first game of the best-of-three series will be broadcast on ESPNU, with Game 2 scheduled for June 8 at 3 p.m. ET, and a potential Game 3 on June 9. Both teams aim to secure their place in the College World Series, which begins on June 13 in Omaha, Nebraska.
