UFC Kansas City: Garry vs. Prates Set for April 26

KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The UFC returns to Kansas City this weekend for a highly anticipated fight night featuring a welterweight main event between Ian Machado Garry and Carlos Prates.
Originally, the main event was set to be Jamahal Hill against Khalil Roundtree Jr., but Hill’s leg injury led to a last-minute change. Garry and Prates stepped up to take center stage at the T-Mobile Center on April 26, 2025.
Garry, ranked No. 7 in the welterweight division, comes into the fight with a record of 15-1, having taken on tough opponents during his career. His most recent fight ended in a unanimous decision loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310. He aims to secure a title shot with a win over Prates.
Prates follows close behind in the rankings at No. 13 with an impressive 21-6 record. He has earned four consecutive knockouts since joining the UFC, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the welterweight class. His notable wins include stoppages over Li Jingliang and Neal Magny.
The co-main event features veteran Anthony Smith, who is retiring after his fight against Zhang Mingyang. Smith, known for his tenure in the UFC and previous title challenges, looks to end his career on a high note following a two-fight losing streak.
Other notable matches on the main card include Giga Chikadze against David Onama in the featherweight division, and Michel Pereira versus Abus Magomedov in the middleweight category.
Preliminary fights start at 6 p.m. ET, followed by the main card kicking off at 9 p.m. ET. Viewers in the U.S. can watch the event on ESPN2 and stream on ESPN+.
