UFL Week 4: Stallions Retake Championship Lead Amid Stiff Competition

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The United Football League‘s Week 4 kicks off Saturday with a heated doubleheader as Birmingham Stallions and Arlington Renegades, both 2-1, face off at Choctaw Stadium at 1 p.m. ET. The game is crucial for both teams as they jockey for position in the UFL championship odds.
Following a narrow victory over the Arlington Renegades in Week 3, the Stallions have regained their status as favorites in the UFL championship race, reflecting their adjusted odds of +240. Last week’s matchup, where backup quarterback Matt Corral led the Stallions, was pivotal, especially after starting quarterback Adrian Martinez was lost to the New York Jets.
“Our guys showed resilience under pressure, and that’s what we need moving forward,” said Stallions head coach Skip Holtz. “Matt stepped up when it mattered and proved that he can lead this team.”
Despite overcoming setbacks, Birmingham’s season has not been without its challenges. The Stallions’ run game has struggled, with Corral currently handling most offensive responsibilities. With previous starter James Morgan on injured reserve, the coaching staff must find ways to spark the ground game as well. “Finding balance is key,” Holtz added. “We need to mix up our play calling to keep defenses guessing.”
The Battlehawks, now 2-1 after suffering a loss to the DC Defenders, are another team to watch as they aim for redemption this week. Head coach Anthony Becht expressed confidence in his team’s ability to bounce back. “We’re preparing hard this week. Losing is part of this game, but how you respond is what defines a season,” Becht remarked.
The Defenders remain undefeated, positioning themselves as serious contenders in the league after defeating the Stallions and Battlehawks, with their success attributed to quarterback Jordan Ta’amu, who leads the league in touchdown passes. However, Ta’amu’s workload has raised concerns as the Defenders head into a high-stakes matchup this week.
“It’s exciting to see our team performing well, but we need to maintain this momentum,” Ta’amu said. “Every game is critical, especially with strong opponents lined up.”
As the weekend approaches, fans are eager to see how these matchups unfold, especially with potential playoff implications hanging in the balance. The UFL championship game is set for June 14, and teams are ramping up efforts to secure their spots in postseason play. “Each week is a stepping stone toward the championship, and it’s all about staying focused,” Holtz stated.
The UFL is entering a crucial phase of the season, with leading teams like Birmingham and DC focused on establishing dominance, while teams like Arlington look to build momentum. The next games will undoubtedly provide thrilling action for fans engrossed in spring football.
