BOSTON – The University of New Hampshire Wildcats celebrated academic and athletic success as three of their swimmers were named to the 2024-25 America East Women’s Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team on March 19, 2025.
Sophomores Emily Blume from Dedham, Mass., and Sophie Mahon from Orange, Conn., along with junior Alyssa Mahoney from Downers Grove, Ill., received this recognition. Mahoney has achieved this honor for the second consecutive year.
Blume distinguished herself with a 3.61 GPA while majoring in Occupational Therapy. Mahon, carrying a 3.84 GPA in Psychology, contributed significantly by clinching a silver medal in the 400 medley relay and bronze in the 100 butterfly and 200 freestyle relay events during the championship. Her impressive performance earned her the title of America East Swimmer of the Week on November 5. She also had the opportunity to compete at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship.
Meanwhile, Mahoney has maintained a stellar 3.95 GPA as a Health Management & Policy major. Her achievements at the championships included gold in the 100 free and bronze in both the 50 free and 200 free events. Mahoney was instrumental in leading the Wildcats to gold in the 400 and 800 free relays. Recognized as America East Swimmer of the Week on January 14, she has amassed a total of 14 All-America East accolades throughout her career.
This year, the Wildcats displayed dominance in the America East Championship, marking their fifth win in the last six years. Overall, the program boasts a league-record 12 championships, with titles won in 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025.
