Bruno Damiani Philadelphia Union Transfer

CHESTER, Pa. (February 18, 2025) – The Philadelphia Union announced today the signing of Uruguayan forward Bruno Damiani from Nacional, marking a record transfer fee for the club.

The forward has agreed to a four-year contract with the Union, effective through 2028, and includes an option for an additional year. Damiani’s acquisition follows a successful tenure at Nacional, where he played a crucial role in helping the team secure its first Supercopa title since 2021.

“Bruno is the exact type of player that we were looking to add to our striker unit,” said Ernst Tanner, Philadelphia Union sporting director. “He is a tall, physical striker with a proven ability to dominate and be a danger in the final third. Along with his size and strength, he is a clinical finisher and is relentless on the attack. We look forward to integrating him quickly and seeing his impact on the pitch.”

Damiani, 22, is expected to enhance the Union’s offensive strategy. Before joining the Union, he accumulated 14 goals and 8 assists over 60 appearances in the Uruguayan league, which included a successful loan spell at Boston River during the 2024 season where he tallied 12 goals in 38 matches.

In 2023, Damiani debuted his professional career with Nacional, making 22 appearances and scoring two goals. Notably, he netted his first professional goal on June 17, 2023, in a 4-0 win over Club Deportivo Maldonado.

Moreover, Damiani’s impressive performance earned him recognition as the second-highest scorer in the 2024 Clausura, where he scored nine goals in 14 games. He also garnered back-to-back Uruguayan Primera División Player of the Month awards in August/September 2024 and October 2024.

On the international front, Damiani received his first call-up to the Uruguayan National Team in May 2024 and made his senior debut in a friendly match against Costa Rica.

The transfer marks a significant milestone for the Union, reflecting their commitment to enhancing their roster ahead of the 2025 season. The club will begin its season on February 22, 2025, under the leadership of new head coach Bradley Carnell.

As the Union look to integrate Damiani into their system, fans are hopeful that his addition can elevate the team’s performance in the upcoming season.
