Upper Crust Bakery Bread Recall Glass Fragments

CINCINNATI, OH – Upper Crust Bakery, also known as Crest Hill Bakery, is voluntarily recalling three types of bread after glass fragments were discovered on the top of the products. The company announced the recall on April 30, 2025, due to public safety concerns.

The affected products include Ancient Grains Hoagie Rolls, Multigrain Sourdough, and Whole Grain Multigrain bread. Overall, 818 cases of the bread have been recalled. The recall specifically includes 89 cases of Ancient Grains Hoagie Rolls, 699 cases of Multigrain Sourdough, and 30 cases of Whole Grain Multigrain bread.

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the bread was sold frozen in Pennsylvania, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Ohio, and Maryland. The recall was initiated after the bakery reported that glass fragments were found on top of the loaves.

Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled products. Instead, they should discard the items or return them for a refund at the place of purchase. The packaging codes to look for are CP45 for Ancient Grains Hoagie Rolls and CP12 for the other two bread varieties.

The FDA has classified this recall as a Class II, which indicates that while the products may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, the probability of serious health issues is deemed remote.

No injuries related to this recall have been reported thus far. However, experts warn that ingesting glass can lead to serious injury, including cuts to the mouth and internal organs.
