USA Beats Nepal by 106 Runs in ICC World Cup League Two Match
Scottsdale, Arizona — The USA cricket team dominated Nepal in a decisive match on Tuesday, winning by 106 runs to reclaim the top spot in the ICC World Cup League Two standings. Harmeet Singh showcased a standout performance, taking six wickets for 26 runs, leading to Nepal’s collapse at 156 runs.
The USA’s innings centered around solid contributions from Smit Patel and Milind Kumar. Patel scored 75 runs, while Kumar finished unbeaten on 70, helping the team set a target of 263 runs. Despite a challenging wicket, Singh’s accurate bowling proved too much for Nepal.
Nepal struggled from the start, losing early wickets and failing to build partnerships. After being put into bat, the USA openers faced a tough challenge from Nepal’s bowlers, with the innings crawling to just two runs per over before Gous hit a boundary.
After Gous was dismissed, Monank Patel briefly steadied the innings but fell quickly, leaving Patel and Sai Teja Mukkamalla to form a significant partnership. Their 95-run third-wicket stand was crucial, but Patel’s run-out opened the floodgates, resulting in a string of wickets falling.
Milind Kumar’s half-century, supported by debutant Shubham Ranjane, helped to stabilize the innings. Together, they added 56 runs for the sixth wicket, enabling the USA to finish strongly with an innings score of 262.
Nepal’s chase began poorly when debutant Rushil Ugarkar claimed a wicket with his second ball, giving the USA the perfect start. Despite occasional resistance, including a few boundaries from Bhim Sharki, Nepal failed to recover from early setbacks.
Harmeet Singh’s bowling was pivotal. He dismantled Nepal’s batting order, taking crucial wickets at key moments. His relentless spells echoed the struggles of Nepal’s batsmen as they faltered under pressure.
The match concluded decisively when Singh trapped Dipendra Singh Airee, sealing Nepal’s fate. The USA’s comprehensive victory highlighted their strength as they look to maintain their lead in the league.
