In a dominant display, the No. 3 USC Trojans women’s basketball team set a program record by scoring 124 points in their nonconference game against the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Tuesday night. The Trojans won the game by a significant margin, 124-39, marking their third consecutive victory of the season.

JuJu Watkins was the standout player for USC, scoring 21 points, along with nine assists and six steals. Her performance was complemented by six other Trojans who scored in double figures, including Kiki Iriafen with 15 points and Kayleigh Heckel with 14 points off the bench. Every player on the USC roster scored in the game, highlighting the team’s depth and cohesion.

The game was essentially decided from the opening tip, with USC outscoring Cal State Northridge 30-6 in the first quarter and allowing just seven points in the second quarter to lead 60-13 at halftime. The Matadors struggled with turnovers, committing 43, which led to 63 points for the Trojans. Erica Adams and Nnenna Orji were among the Matadors who had significant turnover numbers, with 10 and seven miscues respectively.

For Cal State Northridge, Laini Dahlin and Erika Aspajo were the top scorers with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Matadors, now 2-1, are in the midst of a four-game trip and will face Fresno State on November 22. This game was part of their challenging schedule under first-time coach Angie Ned.
