USWNT Aims for Victory Against Jamaica at Energizer Park

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (AP) — The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) faces Jamaica on June 3, 2025, at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, following a 3-0 victory over China PR.
The match, starting at 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET, serves as the culmination of a two-game series during this FIFA window. Fans can watch the game on TNT, Max, Universo in Spanish, or on radio via Westwood One Sports.
Head coach Emma Hayes views this series as an opportunity to evaluate the player pool leading up to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. Key forward Catarina Macario has been impressive since her return from injury, scoring three goals in 2025. “Cat has been tough on herself. She wants to perform at a higher level, which is commendable,” Hayes said.
In a special pre-match ceremony, legendary defender Becky Sauerbrunn will be honored in her hometown. Sauerbrunn, who retired after a distinguished career, played a vital role in two World Cup victories and an Olympic gold medal.
“Becky’s legacy as a leader and human being remains strong,” Hayes noted, acknowledging the impact Sauerbrunn has left on the team.
The USWNT has a perfect record against Jamaica, winning all five encounters with at least four goals scored in each match. The latest meeting in 2022 saw the U.S. triumph 5-0 during the Concacaf W Championship.
The U.S. team is still adapting, with younger players like Lily Yohannes and Claire Hutton gaining valuable experience this summer. Hayes mentioned that the staff is focusing on less tactical correction during training, indicating progress in the team’s understanding.
Meanwhile, Jamaica, coming off two losses to Mexico, is without key players like Bunny Shaw and Drew Spence due to injuries. Head coach Hubert Busby Jr. aims to evaluate new talent while looking to improve. “These games are for experimenting; we want to find the right puzzle pieces for future success,” he explained.
Both teams view this match as crucial for building towards their respective futures, making for an exciting clash in St. Louis.
