INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) is set to compete against Brazil in a two-match international friendly series, kicking off Saturday, April 5, 2025, at SoFi Stadium. This event marks the first professional women’s sporting competition at the venue.

The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET, with broadcasts available on TNT, TruTV, Universo, Max, and Peacock. The rematch will occur on April 8, 2025, at PayPal Park in San Jose, California.

U.S. manager Emma Hayes is integrating new talent into the team after a recent defeat to Japan in the SheBelieves Cup. This will be an opportunity for young players, such as Trinity Rodman, who made her return to the USWNT after participating in the 2024 Olympic gold medal match.

“We’re delighted she’s back with us,” said Hayes, referring to Rodman. “It’s been a long time, but to get one of them back is really exciting.”

This pair of matches serves as a critical evaluation period for the coaching staff, focusing on expanding the player pool ahead of the 2027-28 cycle. Many veterans are set to participate alongside emerging talents, with nine players from the Olympic roster returning for this camp.

Among the roster is Alyssa Thompson, who has shown promise early in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. “Creating space for our players will be really important against Brazil,” said Thompson, emphasizing the strategic matchups and numerical advantages game scenarios.

In the last Olympic meeting, the U.S. defeated Brazil 1-0 in a tense final, leading to the U.S. reclaiming their top Olympic status after eight years. The recent history between the teams indicates a competitive rivalry, with Brazil having achieved only three victories in their 41 encounters.

Brazil arrives with a mix of familiar faces from prior international competitions, notably the absence of legendary forward Marta, who announced her retirement after the gold medal showdown. The Brazilian roster retains experience and skill, including Olympic goal leader Gabi Portilho.
