Utah Royals Fc Vs Chicago Stars Fc Match

HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday, April 17, 2025) – Utah Royals FC will host Chicago Stars FC on Friday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. MT, as they seek their first win of the season.

The Royals (0-3-1, 1 pt) are coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss to Portland Thorns FC last Friday. Defender Ana María Guzmán made her debut for the Royals in that match, coming on for Bianca St-Georges in the 70th minute. Despite injuries sidelining key players, the return of Guzmán, Imani Dorsey, and Lauren Flynn has given the Royals a much-needed boost as they work towards full match fitness.

Both Utah and Chicago have conceded seven goals in the box this season, making the battle for control of the penalty area crucial for this matchup. The Royals lost both games against the Stars last season, including a 2-0 defeat in their opener at America First Field.

Head Coach Jimmy Coenraets will be looking to break that trend and exploit the Stars’ defensive vulnerabilities, as they have already conceded ten goals, the most in the league this season.

Utah’s match will be broadcast live on KMYU and NWSL+, with radio coverage on KSL Sports Radio starting at 7:00 p.m. MT. Following the final whistle, a drone show is scheduled to entertain the audience.

Chicago Stars FC (1-3-0, 3 pts) earned their first win against Bay FC, snapping a three-game losing streak. However, they will be without USWNT star Mallory Swanson due to an excused absence. The Stars heavily rely on Jameese Joseph, who leads in shots on target, and Ludmila, who has netted two goals so far this season.

Utah Royals FC’s pursuit of a first win continues as they look to build momentum against another crucial opponent before heading to Texas to face Houston Dash on April 25.
