Valerie June Lobero Theatre Concert

Santa Barbara, California – Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Valerie June will perform at the Lobero Theatre on June 15 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is part of her promotional tour for her latest album, “Owls, Omens, and Oracles.” June, known for her unique blend of musical genres, will be accompanied by special guest Mick Flannery along with a live band.

This marks June’s second performance in Santa Barbara. Tickets are currently available for purchase. Originally from Tennessee, June has over 20 years of experience in the music industry. She collaborated with producer M. Ward for her album, featuring contributions from artists like The Blind Boys of Alabama and Norah Jones.

“The process of writing, recording, and producing this album was lengthy but fulfilling. I recorded some songs in California, and the natural surroundings really inspired me,” June said in a recent interview. Sharing her music live holds significant meaning for her, especially at the Lobero Theatre.

June expressed excitement about returning to Santa Barbara, reminiscing about her first visit earlier this year. “I’m getting older with them, and they’re getting older with me. It’s a totally different level of being an artist,” she mentioned. She has noticed loyal fans returning to her shows, which inspires her musical journey.

Looking forward to her performance, June emphasized the importance of connecting with her audience. “My fans are amazing people; they just have a good heart,” she noted. June also plans to meet fans after her performance.

In addition to her music, June published her first lyrical poetry book, “Maps for the Modern World,” in 2021, followed by two picture books and an interactive journal titled “Light Beams: A Workbook for Being Your Badass Self” in 2023. “I love to hold space in the community for sharing art,” she explained, highlighting her commitment to artistic engagement.

June is also active in community outreach, visiting schools to share music and books due to budget cuts in arts education. “Many schools I go to don’t have music or art programs. This is a way for me to connect with the community,” she shared.

For those eager to catch her performance before the Santa Barbara show, June will appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on June 12.
