Vegas Golden Knights Acquire Noah Hanifin in Three-Team Deal
The Vegas Golden Knights have reinforced their defensive lineup with the acquisition of veteran defenseman Noah Hanifin in a multi-team trade deal. General Manager Kelly McCrimmon confirmed the exchange, revealing that Hanifin joins the Knights from the Calgary Flames.
In return for Hanifin, the Flames will receive a package that includes a first-round pick, promising defenseman Daniil Miromanov, and a conditional third-round pick from Vegas. Further complicating the trade, the Philadelphia Flyers will be part of the deal, gaining a fifth-round pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft.
Noah Hanifin, aged 27, brings a wealth of experience to the Vegas roster, having played nearly 660 NHL games and accumulated 274 career points. In his most recent season with Calgary, Hanifin led the team’s defensemen in scoring, registering 35 points and a +13 rating across 61 games. His offensive contributions, with 11 goals this season – a personal best for the player, have been a highlight.
Before his tenure with the Flames, Hanifin spent three productive years with the Carolina Hurricanes, where he showcased his skills in 239 games and scored 83 points. A Boston native, Hanifin made a mark early in his career, impressing at Boston College prior to entering professional hockey. His international experience is also notable, having represented the United States multiple times at prestigious events like the IIHF World Championship and the IIHF World Junior Championship.
The move to bring in Hanifin reflects the Golden Knights’ commitment to strengthening their defensive core and adding depth for the remainder of the season, enhancing their position in the competitive NHL Western Conference. Fans of the Vegas team can look forward to seeing Hanifin’s impact on the ice as the push for playoffs intensifies.
