Vegas Golden Knights Aim for Home Win Streak Against Los Angeles Kings
The Vegas Golden Knights are gearing up for a crucial home game against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, October 22, at T-Mobile Arena. This match marks the first game of a four-game homestand for the Golden Knights, who are currently 3-2-1 in the 2024-25 season. The team has a perfect 3-0-0 record at home this season and is looking to extend this streak.
The Golden Knights are coming off a tough road trip, having lost in overtime to the Florida Panthers with a final score of 4-3 on Saturday night. Despite the loss, goalie Ilya Samsonov delivered an impressive performance with 45 saves, tying for the second-highest total saves in franchise history.
Head Coach Bruce Cassidy is on the verge of a milestone, needing just one more win to reach 100 victories with the Golden Knights. Other players nearing significant milestones include Nicolas Roy, who is three games away from 300 games as a Golden Knight, and Shea Theodore, who is four points away from 300 points with the team.
The Los Angeles Kings, with a 3-1-2 record, are concluding their season-opening seven-game road trip. Anze Kopitar leads the Kings in scoring with eight points (3G, 5A), while Adrian Kempe has six points (3G, 3A). The Kings have made the playoffs the last three seasons but have been eliminated in the first round each time.
The Golden Knights are also focusing on defensive adjustments to support their young wingers. Coach Cassidy has mentioned changing the defensive pairs to improve gaps and make breakouts easier, allowing forwards more time to get on the rush. This strategy aims to create loose pucks in the neutral zone that the attacking wingers can capitalize on.
In addition to the on-ice strategies, the Golden Knights have been bolstered by the performance of homegrown player Pavel Dorofeyev. Drafted by the Golden Knights in the 2019 NHL Draft, Dorofeyev has quickly adapted to the NHL, earning a full-time role and contributing significantly, including a recent promotion to the top power play unit after Victor Olofsson‘s injury.
