Vehicle Fire Closes Multiple Lanes on Bay Bridge During Rush Hour

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — A vehicle fire on the Bay Bridge resulted in the closure of several eastbound lanes Tuesday afternoon, causing significant traffic disruptions during the busy commute hour.
The California Highway Patrol reported the fire shortly after 1:45 p.m., involving a Porsche SUV towing an RV. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene, where they worked to extinguish the flames and clear the area.
As of approximately 2:30 p.m., CHP officials confirmed that the left three lanes of the eastbound direction remained blocked. While crews continued to work, two of the lanes were reopened, but delays were expected as traffic backed up.
Fortunately, westbound traffic from Oakland to San Francisco was not impacted by the incident, allowing some commuters to bypass the congestion.
No additional details regarding the cause of the fire or any injuries have been released as of this report.
Officials are urging drivers to seek alternate routes and exercise caution when traveling in the area as they monitor the situation and work to restore full lane access.
