Victor Oladipo Basketball Comeback

OSHKOSH, Wisconsin — Former NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo is set to continue his basketball career with the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks‘ G League affiliate, as he attempts to make a comeback in the NBA.

Oladipo, 33, most recently played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association before entering the G League player pool this past weekend. The Herd acquired his rights after the Golden State Warriors‘ G League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, claimed him off waivers and traded him to Wisconsin.

Known for his athleticism and scoring ability, Oladipo was selected as the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic. He quickly gained attention in his rookie season, finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting. His career flourished when he joined the Indiana Pacers, earning two All-Star selections and one All-NBA and All-Defensive Team nod.

However, injuries have plagued Oladipo in recent years. He suffered a ruptured quadriceps tendon during the 2018-19 season and experienced further setbacks with the Miami Heat, culminating in a torn patellar tendon in his left knee during the 2023 playoffs. Despite these challenges, Oladipo continues to strive for a return to the NBA.

“You know, if push comes to shove and that’s the last option, we’ll see. I’m definitely one of the best. So that’s where I belong is the three letters: N-B-A,” Oladipo stated, expressing his desire to return to the league.

The G League season commenced this past Friday, and Oladipo’s journey back to the NBA begins in Oshkosh as he aims to prove he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
