Vikings' Addison Injured In Practice

CLEVELAND — Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was carted off the field during a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday due to an injury. Reports say that Addison fell after jumping for a contested catch.

Though it was confirmed that Addison won’t participate in Thursday’s practice, it’s believed that his injury isn’t serious. This is a relief for Vikings fans, as the 22-year-old had an impressive rookie season with 70 catches, 911 yards, and 10 touchdowns.

Addison is currently playing as the solid No. 2 receiver behind superstar Justin Jefferson, who just signed a new deal this offseason. The Vikings are already facing depth issues at the receiver position, particularly if Addison has to miss time.

Other receivers like Jalen Nailor and Trishton Jackson have shown some potential, but no one behind Jefferson has proven to be a reliable option. Adding to the concern, it seems the Vikings might be without star tight end T.J. Hockenson at the start of the season due to his own injury.

In addition to Addison’s injury drama, the Vikings announced that rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy would be sidelined this season after undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus. Veteran Sam Darnold is set to take the starting role, with Nick Mullens backing him up.

This whole situation raises some eyebrows regarding the Vikings’ pass-catching capabilities going into the season. If Addison’s injury is severe, it could heavily impact the offense. Meanwhile, Justin Jefferson is expected to continue performing at a high level, even with changes in the quarterback lineup.

As for Addison’s off-field troubles, he was recently arrested for a DUI offense. He hasn’t faced any discipline yet but has openly said he’ll accept any punishment handed down, which casts a shadow on his future with the team.
