Minnesota Vikings Draft Donovan Jackson Ohio State

EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings continued to build their offensive line Thursday by drafting Donovan Jackson from Ohio State with the 24th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Jackson, a versatile lineman, started 40 of 55 games during his college career, primarily at left guard. In 2024, he shifted to left tackle to fill in for an injured teammate, helping the Buckeyes secure a national championship title.

NFL analyst Bucky Brooks rated Jackson as the second-best interior offensive lineman in this draft class, emphasizing his aggressive playing style. Brooks described him as someone who “mauls defenders” and fits well within a power-based offense.

“As a large blocker with nimble feet, the Ohio State product is a Day 1 starter with Pro Bowl-caliber tools,” Brooks noted.

Jackson was recognized as a First-Team All-American and a three-time First-Team All-Big Ten selection. His commitment to academics was also noteworthy, as he earned First-Team Academic All-American honors.

With Christian Darrisaw returning at left tackle and Brian O’Neill at right tackle, Jackson is poised to compete for the left guard position previously held by Blake Brandel, who started last season.

This marks Jackson as the fourth player drafted from Ohio State by the Vikings in the first round, joining a select group that includes Leo Hayden and Korey Stringer. Overall, he is the 14th player from Ohio State to be chosen by Minnesota in any draft round.

“He’s got size. He’s got length. He’s got power,” said Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell of Jackson. “We’re very excited about him.”

As the Vikings restructure their roster, they have also added other key players in recent months, showing their commitment to enhancing their performance in the upcoming season. Jackson’s addition could significantly strengthen their offensive front as they look to rebound from their playoff exit last season.
