Wes Phillips Vikings Offensive Coordinator

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings have extended the contract of offensive coordinator Wes Phillips, keeping him with the team through the 2026 season. The extension comes after the Vikings’ successful season, where their offense ranked among the top in the NFL.

Phillips, who first joined the Vikings’ coaching staff in 2022 under head coach Kevin O'Connell, had his previous deal set to expire after the 2025 season. The move solidifies his role as O’Connell’s lone offensive coordinator, a position he has held since the team hired O’Connell.

The 46-year-old coach previously worked with O’Connell in Washington before joining him in Los Angeles with the Rams, where he served as the tight ends coach during their Super Bowl LVI championship run. Phillips has played a crucial role in organizing the team’s weekly game plan and providing support on game day.

Last season, the Vikings’ offense finished ninth in the NFL in scoring, with quarterback Sam Darnold throwing 35 touchdown passes. Phillips’ strategic input has been instrumental in their success, as the team looks to build on this foundation in the upcoming season.

In addition to Phillips’ contract extension, the Vikings have also signed General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and O’Connell to new deals earlier this offseason. Phillips turned down an opportunity to call plays for the Chargers after the 2022 season, choosing to remain in Minnesota.

The Vikings are expected to continue revamping their roster as they prepare to integrate first-round draft pick J.J. McCarthy as the starting quarterback in 2025. Phillips will work closely with McCarthy and their offensive staff to improve the team’s performance.
